The local Special Olympics program and the Arc of Indiana County are working to offer social outings, learning new things, and ways to stay active by partnering with IUP Special Olympics Club, Best Buddies and IUP sports teams. The IUP Women's Rugby Club is offering a clinic for athletes and individuals with disabilities next Saturday, November 18th from 1-3 pm at the South Campus Field located at 143 University Drive, Indiana. This event will be filled with learning a new sport, building friendships, physical activity, and a great fun afternoon! This social event is geared to individuals with moderate activity level capability. There is no fee for the clinic and the clinic is being offered as a fun, healthy outing and not a precursor for this sport being introduced as a new sport for our program. Offering new opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities is always our goal!! We are looking to offer more this winter and spring with more time in advance for staff, caregivers, parents, and athletes to plan ahead of time to attend.
