March 26th Update - Tech Support / Additional Devices / New Lunch Station

March 26, 2020

Dear Families:

Indiana Area School District staff are busy preparing for our Continuity of Education program, which will begin on April 2, 2020. One of the platforms we will be using for distance learning is online instruction via Google Classrooms. Surveys have already been sent to families regarding Internet and device access, and we are now taking the next steps in our internal planning.

If you feel additional devices are needed for your family, please complete the following survey and follow any instructions that are sent to you as a follow-up. Please note that we have a limited supply of devices, so distribution will be prioritized according to genuine need. Survey link: Chromebook Lending

Once we are teaching and learning online, our technology team will do its very best to support your technology needs remotely. If you encounter a problem, please complete a help ticket. Link for reporting tech-related issues:  IASD Family Tech. Support

As we embark on this new adventure together, remember there is a learning curve for both our teachers AND our students. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we implement this temporary learning experience, but we also encourage feedback so we can work together to build something meaningful while keeping our staff and students safe.

In the area of food service, we are adding another distribution location for student meals. Starting on Monday, March 30, meals will also be distributed at the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church in Shelocta from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. To ensure that the District will have enough meals available at this location, we are asking that parents or guardians email Holly Hartman at [email protected] or call (724) 463-8713 to let us know the students for whom you will be picking up and the days you will be participating. Please let us know by Friday, March 27th at 12:00 pm.  We thank you in advance and look forward to working with you.

This District will also continue to operate meal distribution at Ben Franklin Elementary and the Senior High School, Monday thru Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Parents are encouraged to have students present when picking up meals.

We welcome all IASD families to take advantage of this service during the District shut down.

As always, if you have any immediate concerns or questions, please contact your building principal.

Respectfully yours,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich

Superintendent of Schools
