Ben Franklin Elementary - Student Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures

🚍🚗 Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminders 🚗🚍



Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!

Here are a few things to remember, and please note our new Arrival and Dismissal times:

 

Our doors will open at 8:45am, and children are encouraged to get their FREE breakfast before going to homerooms. We will begin dismissing Kid Car Pick Up kids around 3:35pm, and all children should be picked up by 4:00pm. We will begin loading buses around 3:45pm. It is very helpful to send changes in transportation in the form of a note. If a change is needed before school is out and you didn't send a note, please make every effort to let the Main Office know no later than 2:30pm.

 

 

🚗🚗 🚗 PennDOT and White Township Safety Concerns During Arrival & Dismissal Times

  • Parents parking or stopping on the side of the road during dismissal is causing safety hazards.
  • It increases the chance of accidents, damages the road shoulder, and hinders buses and emergency vehicles.
  • Parking along Ben Franklin Road is unlawful, and violators may be subject to fines.

 

Kid Car - Drop Off & Pick Up 🚗🚗🚗

 

ARRIVAL - Drop off is between 8:45 - 9:05am this year!

Simply pull up to our front loop, and a staff member will open the car door to help your child. Please do not park in the front loop or parking lot as children are getting off the buses. (Students arriving after 9:05am should be brought into school by an adult and signed in.)

 

DISMISSAL - Pick Up is between 3:35-4:00pm this year!

 

To ensure safety and efficiency during dismissal, please follow these guidelines:

  • Do not pull along the side of the road. Only enter the pick-up loop when there is enough room so that your vehicle’s back end does not block Ben Franklin Road. If necessary, drive around the block or park across the street until it is time for dismissal.
  • Always yield to buses. Blocking their entrance or exit causes delays for students on those buses.
  • Pull all the way up to the very end of the loop in front of the school.
  • Scoot your car up as close as possible to the car in front of you.
  • Children should only enter and exit the car when a staff member opens their door. They should not get in or out by themselves.
  • Children should only exit or enter through the right-hand door of your vehicle - this side is closest to our sidewalk.
  • Keep your KidCar number card clearly posted on your dashboard- these will be passed out the first week of school.
  • If a car is in front of you, do not pull around the vehicle to exit the line. Wait until the car(s) in front of you exit the loop and follow behind them.
  • If we do not have your child’s name on our pick-up list, a staff member will assist you. Stay in your car, and we will work on getting your child to you as quickly as possible.
